Being in the military, I have continuously pondered the eventual point in time where I would have to retire and grow up. I thought long and hard about what I would do once I pack away all of my camouflage. Coffee has always been a special thing that brought joy to me wherever I was in the world. As a Green Beret, I have been to 26 countries in 28 years, with several of those being less than hospitable places. Through my travels, I have come to judge places by their food, hospitality, and music. Coffee and tea were present in all of those places and helped bond people together regardless of the cultural differences.

Common Ground Coffee Bar was then created! I wanted my coffee bar to stand out from all others, where everyone feels welcomed and comfortable. common ground offers an inviting setting where you can come to be alone, study, or catch up with friends. Common Ground Coffee Bar was a name that really fell into place considering our location- Oxford Commons...and coffee grounds! We strive to serve the best specialty coffee and pup cups to each and every customer- and their dogs! I've "preached" to all of the baristas, “I can teach you to use the register and make the recipes, but I cannot teach you how to smile genuinely to our customers.” Additionally, “You are the first person someone sees in the morning, so help make their day special.” My favorite is, “you are the last person to touch the coffee beans in a line of people, starting with the individual that picked the beans. Honor their work and make the best coffee you can.”

Our coffee is a blend of beans from several countries, which gives it a unique flavor profile. Our beans are roasted by an award-winning roaster with over 30 years of experience. We tried several coffee beans before making our selection and are so proud to serve such an amazing product. Our coffee bean is such a high-quality product, our customers get the same rich flavor consistently in every shot or cup. Again, this is where common ground coffee bar stands out among the rest!

Common Ground has grown over the last four years thanks to our faithful community. during our growth, we added a commercial kitchen, added new product lines, and started baking all items in house. as a result, In July 2024, we rebranded and expanded our menu and services, and will offer online ordering for pickup and on- demand ordering using uber eats and doordash soon!
